Please feel free to sign in and post in these forums. There are no rules, but here are some guidelines.
General
When deciding what to post on these forums, follow this philosophy:
Open Forums are for everybody, and therefore bear in mind that your post will be read by a wide variety of people. You can offend people by saying very little without trying, and that is not really a problem, but we won’t accept vitriol or personal attacks or character assassinations. Words have power – use them sensibly.
Please let us know if you believe other categories of forum are required.
Think of your forum discussion as a group of people sitting at a table in a bar. You can chat and no-one wants to control your conversation, but shouting loudly and being offensive isn’t on.
Posting about good/bad experiences…
Your personal bad experience may be the same for everybody. However, it could also be something to do with you, or your particular interaction, or your interpretation. Cultural misunderstandings are a great source of problems – if you don’t really understand the culture, be careful.
Your words are there to help other people, not seek revenge. Also, I personally have had good and bad experiences in many restaurants, so one visit isn’t enough – and that is why Rome is a terrific city – it is not a bunch of chain restaurants and shops – it is full of personality – and like any person – has good and bad days.
People living in Rome (or trying…)
For those of us living here, our problem is trying to get things done. Don’t know which department to go to, where to find a particular "widget" or item, or who does a particular type of job. It is great if this can serve to help. It is one of our great frustrations. If you find a great little "angle" on a particular task, share it.
Advertising
These forums are not for cheap advertising or promotion. Post links to your own website in the "Marketplace" section and describe your services, as long as they are relevant and helpful to visitors and inhabitants of Rome. We will remove content that we find unhelpful – but prefer if you make a balanced assessment.
