Welcome Back
It has been a long, thorougly enjoyed holiday! And finally, the bunch of bloggers behind The Rome Journal are ready for some action again. In fact, we have been quite busy over the past week or so, preparing new articles, and reading about stuff that is happening in, around, and in relation to Italy.
The things you find when scouring the web for news! Here are some of the tidbits that I may not convert into articles, but found rather intriguing:
- A recently unearthed 1977 photo of a suave Silvio Berlusconi, that inexplicably features a gun.
- Alphadesigner’s maps featuring stereotypes about Europe, oozing of political incorectness. This is possibly the reason that they went absolutely viral on Twitter.
- Also, Amanda Knox has found a friend who is publishing her poems and letters. How… interesting?
- The possible addition of the mediterranean diet to UNESCO’s world heritage list, which by the way not everyone agrees with.
What do you know. Submit your own tidbits in the comments!

Not so much inexplicably: in the 70s the ideological murder or kidnapping for ransom of “burgeois” entrepeneurs by left wing terrorist groups (red brigades, lotta continua, …) was an every day occurrance and many got themselves a weapon for self-defence.

Thanks GC! Very much appreciated when one of you chips in to help me get my facts straight.

Stereotypes are my favourite!!!
I wonder if the AK story has just been hammered. If you want lots of hits to your site you can publish (I think many have google alerts set up for that), but it brings out all sorts of weirdo’s.
