Official statistics for purchase and rental prices as of the first quarter, 2009.

As with all property related statistics in all countries, these are to be read not as Gospel, but as another piece of information for the jigsaw.

The manipulation of statistics benefit everyone already with an interest in the maintenance of prices (Govts for taxation, banks for security on Mortgages, Real Estate agents and their official bodies for the “excitement generation value” of pumping prices to encourage panic buying).
